As we prepare to mark Muharram, OIL would like to thank you for registering to our annual Muharram Lecture Series, “Qur’anic parallels between the mission of Imam al-Husayn and Prophet Muhammad: The contemporary relevance of Surat al-Qalam.”

Here are some tips before you arrive:

  1. BRING YOUR TICKETS: Please bring a copy of your ticket(s) for a quick check-in process each night. If you need help printing or saving your ticket, please scroll down for instructions.
  2. PARKING: There is ample free parking in the Casa Ricca plaza parking lot. If you have trouble finding a space, extra parking can be found across the street on the north side of Steeles at 8 Director Court (north-west corner of Director Ct and Steeles). Street parking on Rossdean Drive may be available at certain times. Obey all signs and park on the street at your own risk. Do not block any bus stop areas. 
  3. FATEHA: We currently have many openings in the schedule for Fateha distribution. If you would like to sponsor and prepare Fateha for any evening, please contact one of our volunteers or Board members at the venue. We will direct you to the person in charge of the Fateha schedule. We need to cater to 150 people each night.
  4. DONATIONS: All contributions help us to provide quality, modern programming. Of course, the donation table at the front desk can get busy. Please consider donating online in advance of coming. If you have a PayPal account you can donate directly from your app in just a few clicks.
  5. MEMBERSHIP: Muharram is the start of a new year, and thus a new membership cycle. Please consider becoming a member or renewing your membership, as OIL can only exist through your steadfast dedication to our commitment to enlightenment. Renew your membership and donate at the same time on our Donate page.
  6. PUBLIC SEMINAR: “Navigating New Age Spiritualities & Technologies Today: Who are we as human beings and what will we become?” is open for registration. To be held on Saturday 22 July at 11am to 2:30pm, this seminar is open to everyone and will be lead by Dr Imranali Panjwani. Click here for more info.

Instructions for Printing and Saving your Eventbrite Tickets

Here are some quick instructions on how to keep your tickets handy for the OIL event:

Easiest Methods for everyone (A & B): 

A. Keep your confirmation email open on your mobile

  1. After you registered, you would have received a confirmation email (from Eventbrite) and a reminder email (from OIL via Eventbrite). Attached to both these emails is a PDF copy of your ticket(s). 
  2. “Flag” or “star” this email, or pin it to the top of your inbox for easy access. 
  3. Open the email and click on the attached PDF once you arrive at the venue, and show it to one of our volunteers at the front desk. 

B. Print a paper copy of your ticket

  1. After you registered, you would have received a confirmation email (from Eventbrite) and a reminder email (from OIL via Eventbrite). Attached to both these emails is a PDF copy of your ticket(s). 
  2. Open the PDF attachment and PRINT it at home before arriving at the venue. 
  3. Or DOWNLOAD the PDF and keep a copy of the ticket handy on your mobile. 
  4. Make sure the QR code is clearly visible in its entirety. 
  5. Use the same ticket for each evening. You only need to print it once. 

Easy Method for Eventbrite account holders (C & D):

C. Use the Eventbrite app 

  1. Download the app on your mobile and sign in.
  2. Click the PROFILE tab on the bottom right (the icon of a person), then click on MY TICKETS. 
  3. Tap your MUHARRAM LECTURE SERIES ticket. 
  4. Present the QR code on arrival. 
  5. Or, save the ticket to your Apple wallet by tapping the bar above the QR code. 
  6. Or, scroll down the MY TICKETS page and tap “Save ticket as image.” 
  7. Present your saved ticket on arrival at the check-in desk. 

D. Print from Eventbrite.ca

  1. Go to eventbrite.ca and either sign in to your account, or click on “Email me a login link” to sign in.  
  2. Once logged in, you will see an orange button to “Print Tickets.”
  3. Print you ticket(s) and present them to one of our front desk volunteers. 

Please remember, you only have one ticket, even if you have registered for mulitple nights. Please show the same ticket on arrival each night.
