Who We Are

What is OIL?

The Organization for Islamic Learning, or OIL as we are more affectionately known, is a charitable, non-profit, community-based group with a growing membership whose main goal is to understand and practice the essence of Islam in an inclusive environment. We strive for “Enlightenment through Awareness.”

What We Do

We promote learning activities based on the teachings of the Quran and the values of its Prophet and his family. Our lectures and events are meant to enhance our understanding of our religion, augment our spiritual growth and promote a positive image of Islam while reaching out to other faiths so we can all know each other. Interactive learning is a major focus for us. As such, we create programming that promotes discussion where a diversity of people and ideas are welcomed. Nuturing a safe environment for all of us to learn and grow is paramount. In 2021, we launched our OIL Youth Committee, which engages (and is managed by) young members of our community between the ages of 12–17.
